Growth and Engagement: getting people to take part

Launching a community and sustaining one are different problems. These resources cover both: attracting the first members, and keeping participation alive once the novelty has worn off.
Get Together — Spark the Flame and Stoke the Fire — Two linked sets of exercises. The first covers identifying the people a community should serve and encouraging the first interactions between them. The second covers moving beyond that initial group by attracting new participants, cultivating identity and giving members increasing ownership.
FeverBee — member journey and survey tools — A framework for the stages a member moves through from discovery to deeper involvement, alongside survey templates for understanding prospective and existing members. Useful for finding where people fall out of the experience, and for replacing assumptions about motivation with evidence.
CMX Connect events — Virtual and local gatherings for community professionals. Beyond the networking, they are a useful worked example of how recurring programming turns an audience into a community.
The Community Roundtable — community case studies — Community programs examined inside real organisations, across customer, employee and professional communities. Useful for seeing engagement strategy survive contact with practice.
